Athletics Club secures its first ad board sponsorship
Swindon Harriers Athletics Club has secured sponsorship from a local building company.
Following on the heels of securing a place in the National Athletics League, Swindon Harriers Athletics Club has sold its first advertising board in a £550 two-year deal with RJN Plastering.
This funding will go toward the refurbishment of the track surface. The track surface has reached end-of-life after being laid down in the 1980s and the club is fundraising toward a £350k target.
The club was chosen for the sponsorship due to their athlete population, with members drawn from a wide community and society demographics.
Howard Moscrop, club chairman, said: ‘We’d like to share a big thank you from the athletes and coaches for this generous and ground-breaking sponsorship.
The club is based at the County Ground Park off Ocotal Way, and has over 650 athletes.
Richard Newman, owner of RJN Plastering, said, “As a local business and an ex-athlete myself, I think it’s hugely important to support youth sports teams in our local communities. I’m thrilled to be an early adopter of track-side sponsorship for the club and hope that it encourages other businesses to pitch in with the club’s fundraising efforts. As a platform for so many local children and athletes, some reaching the top end of national rankings, it’s a great organisation to grow the profile of the town and for individuals to achieve.”
