Looking back through some excellent individual performances in March, whether some outstanding cross country across all ages, or road, there were also excellent team performances. I have always felt very strongly about a team ethic in athletics. Yes it is an individual sport, but on so many occasions, the outstanding individual performances come when you are part of a team, no one wants to let the other person down.
When considering, the distances that some athletes travelled to make themselves available, the team spirit behind all that competed at the event, the time and effort afforded by the team manager in getting them together. Then the fact that for the first time in their history Swindon Harriers achieve a medal in the 12 stage event, my member(s)/team of the month has to go to the Men’s 12 stage team.
Congratulations to all of you, you clearly enjoyed the day.
