After a number of months of outstanding performances getting my member of the Month award, I’m delighted that my June award will go to someone who is an outstanding “member of the club”.
Olly Hughes has represented the club in every Wessex & YDL match this season so far, competing in events from 300m to 1500m to Shot plus a 3k at our open meeting for a little extra..
He’s a great club athlete and is part of a very strong U15B group.
Aside from that, as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award, Olly started helping out supporting our coaches on Wednesday Club night. Although he has now successfully completed the required hours for this part of his DofE he has continued to stay on and support our coaches week in week out. He has run warmups, led middle-distance sessions and helped with other events when needed.
Olly is very much part of our Wednesday night coaching team, and we are hoping he will complete his leading athletics qualification soon. He is a great role model for the younger athletes, and we are very proud to have someone like Olly as part of our club.
Congratulation Olly, you are a great asset to the Harriers.
