Members Information – Training under COVID19
Athletes and Spectators
- Do not attend if you feel unwell.
- The Club have based their guidelines and processes upon current Government and England Athletics guidelines.
- Attendance of Club training sessions is at your own risk.
- Social Distancing of 2m must be observed at all times.
- There will only be space for a limited number of athletes based upon the prevailing Government guidelines. It is not known when the track will be open to the full membership.
- Only paid up members with a current affiliation will be able to use the track. All standing orders payments should be up to date.
- Spectators will be allowed but must adhere to social distancing and to avoid athlete areas.
- No sharing of water bottles or any personal equipment or clothing.
Track Facilities
- The STFiTC Pavilion will not be open.
- Our Clubhouse by the finish line will not be open.
- Toilets will not be open, only the disabled unit for emergency use.
- Contact with any surface, fences, cabins, walls, etc to be avoided by all using the track.
- Take notice of warning signs and stay clear of any taped off areas.
- All rubbish to be taken home, there are no bins for general use.
Sessions
- Coaches to be responsible for which athletes attend and for communicating with athletes.
Access to Track
- Only use the gates, the STFiTC pavilion is to be kept closed for the foreseeable future, use separate gates for entry and exit (both gates to be manned while track is in use).
- 'Tesco' gate to be used for Entry only
- 'Toilet' gate to be used for Exit only
- On entry athletes and spectators to be channelled down the gravel path between the outer and inner fence.
- All athletes, spectators and coaches should complete the health questionnaire on every visit to the track.
- Hand sanitisers should be used upon entry to and exit from the track by all athletes, coaches and any spectators, hand gel is available at both gates.
- Bags to be stored separately – not piled on top of each other – either on;
- The picnic tables adjacent to the clubhouse/rear of the timekeepers stand
- The clubhouse veranda or
- Close to the training area as designated by the coach.
Routing on Track
- Athletes to warm up as a group as directed by the coach, they must not go onto the track until instructed by the coach.
- After the session the athletes are to warm down in an area designated by the coach.
- Athletes should leave by the Toilet gate and use the hand sanitiser available before they leave.
Training
- Training group sizes are now only subject to the normal EA coaching group ratios, however, Social Distancing to be adhered to at all times – the use of one spare lane between athletes is not sufficient.
- The number of groups within the track area at any one time will be managed in order to ensure that social distancing can be achieved at all times.
Equipment
Throwing Equipment
- If possible, athletes should be allocated their own discus, shot etc and not touch any equipment being used by another athlete.
- If not possible to allocate equipment the implement will have to be wiped down after use before another athlete uses it.
- Athletes should be encouraged to apply hand gel after each throw.
- Athletes should be encouraged to use their own equipment
Starting Blocks
- If possible, athletes should be allocated their own blocks and not touch any blocks being used by another athlete.
- If not possible to allocate blocks these will have to be wiped down after use before another athlete uses it.
- Athletes should be encouraged to use their own equipment
Jumps
- Pole Vault - If sharing, poles should be regripped before use and any part of the pole outside of the grip should be cleaned before use by another athlete
- Long/Triple Jump - athletes must use hand sanitiser before and after each jump.
- High Jump
- Spikes are not to be used on the High Jump
- Athletes must use hand sanitiser before and after each jump.
