Quad Kids squad set the pace at Bournemouth
Swindon Harriers' Quad Kids (Under 11s) squad set the pace at Bournemouth on 8th April, fielding the maximum of 20 young athletes. In a competition where performances equal points, the team finished in first place out of the seven clubs competing, and currently lead the Wessex Athletics League by a single point, equivalent to 0.1 of a second.
The squad performed unexpectedly strongly across the board in the 600m event, with Francis Abijo, Dexter Townsend and Ella Spencer all finishing in under 2 minutes. While Laila-Jae Belgrave came first amongst all competing U11 girls in the 75m and also in the long jump, Jonathan Dumbutshena set a new U11 Boys club record with a leap of 3.93m...and he's a year younger than most of the competitors. Not to be out-done, Francis Abijo rounded off a very strong all-round performance by setting an overall individual U11 Boys single points club record with 233 points.
Well done to all our young athletes, some of whom were competing for the first time.
